The 9:30 a.m. adult Sunday Small Group (SSG) is called SELAH. A time to Pause & Reflect, believing that if we create space and quiet our hearts together, the Lord will move. It's a time to hear from the Lord. A time for Him to apply to our lives the truth that we have been taking in.  SELAH is primarily a prayerful environment for us as a church family to “practice the presence” (as Brother Lawrence would say) of the Lord together and uncover His agenda for His church.

I think of Acts chapter 13:1-3, While the church in Antioch was gathered they left space in the meeting for the Lord to move among them outside any planned lessons or teachings. “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.” Our heart is that  SELAH could be a time where we as a church body gather with intentionality and anticipation that Lord would bring to us His agenda, move among us with power and His anointing and call us as a church body to a deeper walk with Himself, a clearer calling for this season of ministry at MAC and a calling of individuals into His greater Kingdom purposes as each one of us learns to function in the giftings He has for us (Eph 4:16).

SELAH is distinct from what typically happens during the service prayer times. SELAH is not where we bring our list of prayer requests, but primarily a place where we come and wait on the Lord, asking what is on His heart for His people in His church on this occasion. It may begin with unpacking one of the Gifts of the Spirit that we weren’t able to cover on a Sunday morning, or, perhaps begin with a theme or direction of prayer, but with an emphasis on learning together to hear the voice of the Lord in the moment and responding in faith.
